If you’re looking for a good laugh and a light-hearted television series, then look no further than 30 Rock. The comedy series was created by Tina Fey, the former head writer and cast member of Saturday Night Live, and produced by the acclaimed creator of SN, Lorne Michaels. The series’ name refers to 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, the address of the GE Building, where the NBC Studios are located. With a large budget, high-quality cinematography, great soundtrack, and help from such starring actors as Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan, the show has received several Primetime Emmys and Golden Globes. Currently in its seventh and final season, 30 Rock’s avid fan following is disappointed to see the show come to its end. But not to worry, it’s already begun syndication and has been added to Netflix, so its many great moments will be relived for years to come.
The show is based on Tina Fey’s experiences at Saturday Night Live, taking place as a quirky ‘behind the scenes’ look at a fictional live sketch comedy series airing on NBC. With years of experience writing for SNL, Fey’s screenwriting makes this show one of the most up-to-date and fun in the history of television, but be warned that it is highly satirical and the humor is immensely dry. My favorite character on the show is Jack Donaghy, played by Alec Baldwin, as a corporate bigwig that mentors Tina Fey’s character, Liz Lemon, throughout the series. The witty banter between the two of them is enough to keep any comedy lover laughing for hours on end. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
